Dr. Pravin Ingole is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), New Delhi, India. Prior to joining IITD, Dr. Pravin had worked as postdoctoral researcher at Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, Technical University of Dresden, Germany and then as an Assistant Professor at Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer.

His research is related to the physical chemistry and electro-chemistry of advanced functional materials for energy and environmental applications. Apart from studying photophysical and electrochemical properties of nano-structured materials, his research work were also focused on synthetic materials chemistry.

The research projects at the doctoral and post-doctoral level were aimed at determining the electronic band structure of semiconductor quantum dots using electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry. Band structure parameters viz. conduction band edge, valence band edge and quasi-particle gap were determined with help of voltammetry techniques and compared with the density functional based theoretical calculations. The experimentally determined band edge values shows good agreement with the theoretically predicted energy levels. Besides, Dr. Pravin worked also worked on understanding reaction mechanism of organic reactions such as CCl4 electro-reduction, nitrate reduction using electrochemical measurements.

He had worked with eminent scientists like Prof. Alexander Eychmueller, Dr. Nikolai Gaponik and Dr. Stephen Hickey at Technical University of Dresden, Germany.
