SPSO Board Position Descriptions
President: Manages the SPSO Board, Attends and runs one meeting per month for the General Board and all members, and oversees the organization’s activities. Works with staff and administration on school needs. Coordinates yearbook sales with staff representative and company representative.
Vice President: Attend General Board Meetings, reconcile the SPSO bank statements, and shadow the President to take over the following year. Also, coordinate volunteers as needed.
Secretary: Attends and keeps Board meeting minutes and distributes them to members for approval and keeps the by-laws up to date.
Treasurer: Attends General Board Meetings to give the monthly financial report. Manages the financial books of the SPSO and creates the organization’s annual budget. Coordinates Free money opportunities, including membership donation to SPSO.
Cluster Reps.: Attend their elementary school/high school’s PTA/PTO meetings and report pertinent information to the SPSO.
Community Service Coordinator: Plans and supervises with the Counseling department both the “Holiday in a Box” gift drive held annually and the school’s clothing bank. Recruits and manages volunteers to help with these programs. This is usually 1 month commitment between Thanksgiving and Holiday break.
Community Partnerships Coordinator: Solicits local businesses to invest in DRMS through donations to the SPSO in return for school-wide and community acknowledgment. This is a beginning of the year commitment 1-2 months depending.
IC Rep: Attends and interacts with teachers and staff in semi-monthly “Instructional Council” meetings.
Hospitality Committee: Coordinates staff appreciation breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. Utilizes parent volunteers to help host, prepare dishes, set up, and clean up at these events.
Smile Committee Coordinator: Sends cards and goodies to staff members and students for birthdays on a monthly basis. This is maybe 1 hr. a month commitment.
Student Store Chair: Recruits and manages volunteers who work in the student store selling school supplies during lunch Monday through Friday and purchases supplies for the store.
Yearbook Coordinator: Coordinates yearbook sales and distribution. This is end of year commitment. A teacher creates the yearbook, but help needed keeping track of sales and distributing the books. All members help with distribution.
