The SPSO is the Student, Parent, and Staff Organization, which is very similar to other schools' PTAs and PTOs. We are a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization completely run by parent volunteers just like you. Our mission is to support the educational needs of students, facilitating communication between home, school, and community, and assisting and supporting student activities, school programs, and school needs not provided for in the annual school budget.
We perform annual fundraising through membership drives, the Community Partnership Program, participating in the Smith's Free Money program, selling yearbooks, and managing the DRMS School Store. We use the money we raise to organize and fund various projects and events at the school throughout the year.
Also, the SPSO organizes parent volunteers for some very important work that is needed at the school on a daily basis. Finally, the SPSO interacts with teachers and school administration on matters of curriculum and event planning.
