I'm an Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham since 2022, where I teach about Igneous systems, developing solutions for environmental challenges and I am programme lead for 'Global Environmental Change and Sustainability' degree course.
I was previously a NERC Research Fellow at the University of Oxford 2017-2022, examining the factors controlling whether eruptions are effusive or explosive.
Previous to this I have held short post-doctoral positions at the Universities of Plymouth, Southampton and Cambridge, and Mainz (Germany).
I am geology graduate of the University of Bristol (BSc), I hold an MSc in Volcanology and Geological Hazards from the University of Lancaster and completed my PhD at the University of Southampton, entitled 'The Evolution of Volcanism on Montserrat' in 2012.
