I am teaching Engineering Mathematics to B.Tech first year students. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 11:20 am is the time for me to take my online math classes.
Last year, in March, 2020 when the COVID situation started, it was very difficult to teach maths or any other subject online. We did not know how can we write and share the screen with the students, were not familiar with the platforms like TEAM, GOOGLE CLASSROOM, GOOGLE MEET, ZOOM etc. However, we have come a long way in the last one year. Now, I am very comfortable taking online classes and here is how my screen looks like
The only problem is that I am not very sure about how much my students are learning except those five students who interact with me regularly. Out of 100 registered students, only 30 join the online zoom class. In 50 minutes span of the class, I ask several times if there is any doubt? I rarely get a response. I give many homework problems, but nobody ever gives me the solution the next day. I make many intentional mistakes, like writing a zero divides another zero to give us a 1 (0/0=1), but even this error is not enough to make students talk.
They talk to me only on a day before a viva or a quiz, to ask me what I am going to ask tomorrow. :)
P.S. The class ends with a loud THANK YOU MAM 😊
