The DRGS alumni website will be put to 'sleep', effective Nov 15, 2023, following our final update also scheduled for that date. For anyone who wishes to submit items for the final update, kindly review the info and deadline for submission, below**.
While all further alumni mailings and DRGS website updates will cease after Nov 15, 2023, the DRGS website and Class Newsgroups will continue to function and be accessible until such time our host makes changes to its access policies.
The decision to cease further website updates was necessary as it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the level of website traffic to continue to leverage the benefits and resources necessary which has allowed us to maintain a largely self-funded website to date. The steady decline in our website traffic can be attributed to several factors, including:
The aging /attrition of our alumni.
Alumni changing email addresses without notifying us and becoming difficult to reach, despite our efforts.
Competition from social media and blogs for our DRGS target audience which made it less likely some of our GOATs would visit the DRGS website for news.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contributors and individuals working on the website whose synergy made the DRGS website possible. A special shout out to the ever supportive and collaborative Class of 64, who were always willing at a moments notice to assist us in achieving our goals. Thanks to those of you who consistently wrote in expressing your appreciation for our efforts.....needless to say your encouragement was motivating! You should also know that visitors to the website often remarked about the envy they had for us and the enduring camaraderie and DRGS school spirit!
