There are two installation options for the trailer hitch – Bolted on or Tied on.

The preferred installation method is to bolt the trailer hitch tube (rectangular tube) to the bottom of the battery box, so the clevis pin can be attached. It can be mounted longways or sideways.
Alternatively, a Tie-Down Installation Kit is available (Sold Separately) that extends the trailer hitch tube so it can be tied to the bottom of the chair with lashing straps. No holes need to be drilled in the chair, although 2 holes will need to be drilled in the front square tube that depend on the length of the chair. Watch the Installation Video below.
Then the Grip Bar gets mounted behind the seat frame and holds the skateboard in the stowed position. It can be attached with hose clamps to the transit tie-down loops.

Drill a 5/16” hole in the rectangular tube for the Clevis Pin that is 3/4” from the end.
Glue the Clevis Pin in place with Super Glue or Epoxy/JbWeld by applying glue to the pin inside the rectangular tube. Make sure the cotter pin slot is angled so the cotter pin is perpendicular to the lateral line (So it doesn’t interfere with the board folding).
Position the rectangular trailer hitch tube under the chair on a block of wood with the skateboard coupled as a mockup.
Mark the desired location of the rectangular tube. Check the range of motion. The board needs to move 35-45 degrees from center for a decent turning radius, while the hitch should also be as close to the back of the chair as possible for best lateral stability.
5. Remove the batteries. Consult your service manual for chair-specific instructions.
6. Drill three 1/4" holes in the bottom of the battery box for the rectangular tube and countersink the holes.
7. Counterbore the holes in the Rectangular Tube (so the nuts don't protrude) and bolt it to the bottom of the battery box with 1/4" flathead screws and lock nuts.
8. Reinstall the batteries.
9. Mount the Grip Bar behind the seat frame. If you can't find a place to screw it, then use hose clamps to attach it to the transit tie-down loops on the chair.
10. Attach the Skateboard with the Clevis Pin.
