Edna Barromi-Perlman Ph.D




Edna Barromi-Perlman is a visual researcher. Edna is a research fellow in the Institute for Research of the Kibbutz and the Cooperative Idea at the University of Haifa and an Honorary Research Associate at HBI, at Brandeis University in MA, USA.

Edna focuses on research of historical photographs in Palestine and Israel, archival photographs and personal albums. Her current research explores the role of visibility of gender in the public sphere and in teaching.

Edna researches Visual Pedagogy and the use of photography in Education.

Her work appears in academic journals such as Social Semiotics, Journal of Israeli History, Journal of Visual Literacy, Photography and Culture, Journal of Landscape Ecology, International Journal of Qualitative Methods. Edna is a senior lecturer at the Kibbutz College of Education, Technology and Arts in Tel Aviv in its graduate program of Visual Literacy in Education.

She received her Ph.D. at the University of Sussex, and her MFA in Goldsmiths College in the UK.
