Final Project Goal: To examine what happens when communication is misunderstood.
To conclude our examination of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, you will examine the power of language in the text through a theoretical lens and create a product that includes the following two parts:
Part 1: Writing that applies a theory to examine the power of language in the text.
Part 2: Creative design that captures what happens when communication is misunderstood.
Objectives: Students will be able to…
Create a composition that meets conventions of the genre.
Apply a theory to examine the power of language in the text (go to our Theory page for help!).
Use support from scholars in the field (12CP will incorporate 1 scholarly source; 12H will incorporate 2 scholarly sources).
Draw and comment on language devices explicitly from the Carroll text.
Incorporate 4-5 modalities in their composition.
Publish their work on their personal Google websites.

Connection to Common Core Standards:
Stanford professor Linda Darling-Hammond says, "The Common Core state standards ask for much more (than testing). Students will be asked to collaborate, engage in the use of technologies for multiple purposes, communicate orally and in writing, do extensive research, apply ...English language arts in complex problem-solving situations." That is exactly what we're going to do in this project. You'll be really proud of what you accomplish in the end!
