 Applications are invited for the following four positions of a collaborative project of Velux Stiftung, Switzerland, entitled, “Rational design and structure-function analysis of antimicrobial peptides tailored to treat fungal ocular infections” between laboratories in India and Germany.  

1.    Junior Research Fellow (JRF) with M.Sc./ M. Tech in any branch of Life science to study characteristics and role of antimicrobial peptides in corneal infections. This position is based in the laboratory of Dr. Sanhita Roy at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Candidates must have GATE/NET-LS, and there is a provision to enrol in PhD programme.

2.    Project assistant  - 2 positions are available. 

For the first position, M.Sc in any branch of Life Science/Chemistry/ Biotechnology or M. Tech in Biotechnology is needed to study the antifungal activity of designed peptides and their biophysical characterization in model membrane systems. The second position is based at Dr. Sanhita Roy’s laboratory at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. M.Sc in any branch of Life Science is preferred. The project is to study and characterize the role of antimicrobial peptides in corneal infections.

3.    Research Associate with a PhD in Chemistry/Biotechnology to study the mode of action of antifungal peptides against fungal membrane/membrane mimics using a plethora of spectroscopic techniques, focusing on 3D structure determination using solution- and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Candidates with knowledge and extensive experience in molecular biology (cloning and expression) and biophysical techniques including NMR spectroscopy will get preference. Monthly emoluments: Rs. 58,280/- (consolidated). The position is based at Prof Anirban Bhunia’s laboratory (https://sites.google.com/site/dranirbanbhuniaslab/) at Bose Institute, Kolkata.

The duration of all the positions is for four years.
