Info and rules
Who are we?
De Draken van A organize badminton and side activities in a friendly and relaxed way, suitable for the entire family to join. Therefore, we play on sunday afternoon and make sure to also reserve place for children.
The name refers to the Chinese year of the Dragon that started on Januari 23, 2012, which is the formal starting date of the association. The A refers to Antwerp. We used to play since long, an activity started by Xu Yi, Lou Zhe and Miao Kaini, friends and family.
The club is a voluntary association ("feitelijke vereniging"), member of kAVVV (Koninklike Antwerpse Vereniging van Vriendenclubs = Royal Antwerp Association of clubs of friends ) . The club is also recognized as an Antwerp based sports club by the city authorities.
Badminton: open playtime
The location, the time and day and the holidays (on which we cannot play badminton) will be announced at the start of each season. All changes will be announced in time.

Membership fee
Apart from a full memberschip (V), the following exceptions are foreseen:
Member less then 12 years old (K). Children younger then 12 are not accepted as a member unless they are accompanied by one of their parents.
Students and children younger than 18 (S) that come together with at least one of their parents that is a full member (V).
There is a family reduction of 25€, for parents who are full member, in case they are accompanied by one or more (paying) children. If both parents are full member, only one of the parents is entitle to the reduction, unless they are accompanied by at least two (paying) children. In this context, all children count, independent of their age.
Occasional members are all members who do not play fulltime (yet).
As occasional members are counted e.g. a player who joins family and plays only with the children or who plays maximum one match per day, and only when fields are available (O). Also for them, membership and assurance is arranged in full.
New members may play twice before paying.
Per day players (E) are welcome if they pay a compensation per day. They must offer this fee spontanuously and before starting to play.
Both categories (new players who did not pay yet and per day players) must be subscribed as occasional member (and provide the before-mentioned data in order to register the subscription). They don't pay for this subscription however. The club will pay the membership fee and assurance fee to kAVVV for them.
New members are offered a reduction proportional to the part of the season that has already passed.
Members who cannot play weekly and who submit their specific case to the board, before their subscription or renewal of their subscription at the end of the season, can get a reduction suitable to their situation. When the specific agreements made are exceeded, they have to pay the difference (vs. full membership fee) spontaneously. The board does every effort feasible to keep the fees as low as possible. We therefore ask not to discuss minor deviations, but to rather pay the full membership fee.
Membership fees that have been paid are not refunded.
Nobody can access the sports hall before subscription prior to that. Others (third parties) who do not respect this strict rule do so explicitly on their own responsibility and risk.
The membership fees for the season 2024-2025 are:
The membership fee is preferably paid by wired transfer to the clubs' saving account: BE72 1043 9116 8816 (Crelan). Alternatively, the membership fee may also be paid in cash to the chairman or the treasurer.
Because of fees to be paid to the federation and to ease administration, a surcharge of 5 € per person is applied for all payments after Oktober 1st. This is valid for new members who subscribe over the year and for late payment of yearly subscriptions.
Reimbursement mutualities
The yearly membership fees our club (being recognized as badminton club) are eligible for partial reimbursement by the different mutualities. The rules differ between mutualities. Below you can find links to their respective sites (Dutch). If you want us to fill and sign your application, please print the appropriate form and bring it on your first playing day of the new season (after paying your membership fee).

Behavior
The friendly nature of the club is supported by all members. Your warm contribution to the good atmosphere is indispensable. The club also tries to organize activities outside the weekly badminton schedule. Your participation and/or contribution is very much appreciated.
When playing in the sports hall, suitable shoes with white soles must be used. This also applies to children, occasional members, per day players or anyone who enters the sports hall. All players must spontaneously see to it that this is respected.
The members take care of the materials provided by the sports hall, the materials of the club and the materials of other players. When members cause damage intentionally or by gross negligence, the club can demand a compensation for that. In case of doubt, a decision of the board is always decisive.
All adult members must be reachable by e-mail. The basic communication of the club (e.g. announcements) will happen by e-mail.
Confidante
If you want to talk about any subject, nuisance or misbehavior and you rather don't address any member of the board, you can always talk to Jingxian. Whenever you address her explicitly as confidante, the conversation will remain strictly between the two of you and you will address together if and what could be any next steps.
Responsibles
The board has full authority of decision wrt. the activities of the association.
Current composition:
Pieter Blommaert, 0478 960095
Yi Xu
Ronny Baeyens
All information and rules are provided by the board. The board respects the statutes, but has full power of decision within the lines of the statutes.
Responsibles for the hall
The board appoints at least two people who are responsible for the hall. They have the key/badge by which they can get access to the sports hall at the times we play.
The current responsibles are:
Pieter Blommaert, 0478 960095
Yi Xu
Ronny Baeyens
The responsibles must be present during the hours we play. When they are prevented, they point another player who takes over the responsibility for the day. If both appointed responsibles are prevented, they take care to be reachable by phone or to inform the members of the exception by e-mail.
The responsibles provide access to the hall and take care that the all is left in good order. All players must help them with that voluntarily.
