MW-PSNR

MW-PSNR metric is proposed for the evaluation of DIBR-synthesized views with non-uniform geometric distortions affecting the edges. It is very fast in calculation. It is much better correlated to human judgement than standard image quality assessment metrics. MW-PSNR metric is based on morphological wavelet decomposition and mean squared errors of wavelet subbands. Better performances are achieved by reduced version of MW-PSNR which uses only wavelet subbands from higher decomposition scales. PSNR calculated for the morphological wavelet subbands at higher decomposition scales show very good agreement with human judgement.

The Matlab code for the full (basic) version of MW-PSNR metric using all wavelet subbands is available in the file full_mw_psnr.m included in the code_MWPSNR.zip on the bottom.

The Matlab code for the reduced (improved) version of MW-PSNR is available in the file mw_psnr_reduc.m included in the code_MWPSNR.zip on the bottom.

The Matlab code for the calculation of PSNR for one pair of subbands is in the file psnr_subb_dx.m included in the code_MWPSNR.zip on the bottom.
