MP-PSNR

MP-PSNR metric is proposed for the evaluation of DIBR-synthesized views with non-uniform geometric distortions affecting the edges. It is much better correlated to human judgement than standard image quality assessment metrics. MP-PSNR metric is based on morphological pyramid decomposition and mean squared errors on pyramid detail images. Better performances are achieved by reduced version of MP-PSNR using only detail images from higher pyramid scales. PSNR calculated for detail images at higher morphological pyramid scale shows very good agreement with human judgement.

The Matlab code for the full (basic) version of MP-PSNR metric using all pyramid images is available in the file mp_psnr.m included in the code_MPPSNR.zip on the bottom.
