St George is a riding location in southwestern Utah that is on the south western edge of John Wesley Powell's Plateau Province along the boarder between Utah and Arizona. This area has become popular recently due to other riding areas in the Plateau Province becoming over used. The area is very OHV friendly and only about 2 hours from Las Vegas. St. George and Hurricane are fairly large towns that have a lot of logistic support to offer off road riders.
Breckenridge is sort of under the radar as far as Moto concerned. Most folks skip it and head further into the mountains which is a shame. There are two major single track networks in Breck, one about 3/4 of a mile from the house we rent. There is also miles and miles and miles of rugged epic alpine two track. The town is a ton of fun as well with lots of infrastructure, unlike most mountain towns near the good riding. There are lots of affordable flight options to Denver from everywhere.
Moab is an desert off road meca for many disciplines. We have done many trips out there over the years.
Crested Butte is the bicycle single track capitol of north america, in many respects the entire sport of mountain bicycling got started here in the 1970's. For good reason, there is great trails and incredible views of the area. We have done two trips there of a weeks length in addition to several day trips passing thru the area.
Lake City, Silverton and Ouray are in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. Collectively they are one of the best outdoor areas in Colorado. There is a lot of off road riding to do there, including some very remote single track.
In 2016 we did a Adventure ride where we stayed every night in a different location.
Here you can find a rather longish Youtube Play list of the 2016 ADV trip. It was a lot of fun!!
We have done four off road rides to Idaho. We have rode extensively in the Bear Lake area, Pocatello and along parts of the Salmon near Stanley and the Snake near Twin Falls. In 2022 we road in the northern Idaho Panhandle National Forests east of Lakeview from the Gold Creek Lodge which was featured in Moto8. Idaho is has more remote areas than just about any other place in the lower 48.
Death Valley is the largest national park in the continental United States. Most of it is remote with little evidence of human activity. When combined with adjacent public lands it is a vast area for trail riding.
