DCPA Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Needs and Opportunities

All of the following work needs to be done by community volunteers – no experience necessary! If you are unsure which opportunity is right for you, email us and we can help you figure it out. Volunteers may serve one-time or on-going… the amount of commitment is up to you!

Board Member: Join the Danby Community Park Association board as a voting member, and you might even want to become an officer!

Adopt-A-Trail: Select a section of the trail to care for – bring your clippers/loppers/weed-whacker to the park and spend an hour or so cutting back the growth on the trail two to three times per year.

Natural Playground: Help with building the next phase of the playground, including a mini amphitheatre.

Park-Entry Landscaping: Plant flowers and weed the bed around the sign at the park entrance – this can be done two or three times per year.

Carpentry Project: Build and install natural bridges over soggy trails.

Grant Writer: Write a grant proposal to help the park get funding. There are several grants available that DCPA qualifies for – we just need someone to do the proposal.

Welcome Station: Maintain the park mailbox (replace pages in the guestbook, stock pens, keep it clean)

Event Coordinator: Room for lots of creativity here! Events could include bird watching, geocaching, star-gazing, plant-identification walk, dog walk, snow-shoe hike, sledding party… pick your favorite and plan it – DCPA will advertise for you!
