I want to thank everyone for all the nice wishes on my birthday, and all the support you have provided me in the last few, difficult weeks.

As some of you may know, my mother passed away a few days before my birthday. Fortunately, I was able to get out to California a few days before she passed, and spent some time with her while she was still responsive and communicative. We arranged for her to obtain hospice care, and she passed away comfortably and quietly. I will be returning to California in a week for the memorial service.

Our car was also totaled during this period, but fortunately, nobody was injured in the accident. To compound all the difficulties with communications during this period, our home computer turned into a large paperweight.

Now, with a new car, a new computer, and the passage of some time, I expect to get “back to customary.” Note- I did not write “back to normal,” as I am sure some of you would have objected to that phrase!

Once again- thanks to everyone, and please forgive me for not writing back individually to each of you.
