We provide a novel solution to maintain a Portable mobile based secure healthcard that uses a patient mobile device as a contactless card an medical professional as a secure authorized card reader. It integrates health records from various hospitals on a healthcard which is retained on patient mobile device in an encrypted format. The security keys are stored on a hardware tamper resistant Secure Element with java card in form factors such as a secure microSD card from GoTrust and SIM. The healthcard can be accessible personally by patient using a secure mobile application and by different stakeholders such as doctor, nurse, pharmacist and lab technician through low energy communication interfaces such as NFC (Host Card Emulation) and Bluetooth. It is supported by a HealthSecure service to provide cryptographic support, and also to maintain a digital vault for backup of healthcard, for recovery in case of theft of device. This novel healthcard provides integrated health history of patient, which is highly available and reliable to provide the right care at the require time. It relieves the patient from maintaining dispersed digital health records and 24/7 dependency on cloud.
The project has been supported by TIFAC, DST for Indian patent application process.
We have performed a simulation study to analyse the impact of portable health records in crowded hospitals. A technical report is available here.
