Abstract:
One of the most appealing multimedia applications today is the delivery of live video stream at low cost. Live streaming through mobile devices is becoming increasingly popular because of its various applications like surveillance, live cast of lecture sessions, sports and news events using the free public Internet. Also seeing the progress of Android OS on an unmatched level, this paper presents an application design for real time peer to peer video distribution from an android phone to other Android phones or desktops. In the proposed design the video streaming is performed using byte streaming and the distribution of the video stream among the clients is done by implementing an overlay multicast tree structure. The design is easy to deploy and can be used for applications like remote surveillance.
