Tired of reading encyclopedias about how to speed up your poor little `puter? Me too.

I don't use an anti-virus program, I NEVER get malware or viruses. My computers, always run fast. My crummy old laptops run

faster than most people's "Whizbang windows 7 turbo pro", because they are optimized. That is a part of my day job.

I have a lot of friends and family members that tell me, My computer is slow. Or ... It acts "funny",maybe a virus or malware.

I'm hoping, I might head off more of those future calls,emails or visits,by... writing this. (November, 2010)

What to use

DNS, Browser, applications and utilties (you might also consider mac,and linux)

I. DNS (The "Domain Name System", lets you to use names,like "google.com", not numbers like 8.8.8.8 or 72.14.204.99)

II. BROWSER.

If you have not already,please download Firefox or Palemoon with these plugins for speed and security.

III. Applications and utilities and Other (lean,mean fighting machine type) programs

1. foxit pdf reader http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php Adobe reader is SLOW ,bloated and BUGGY

2. OpenOffice as a replacement for microsoft office. http://download.openoffice.org/

Or! Just use Google docs, and not have to installl any programs https://docs.google.com/

5. Protection apps.... Please download/install these and ditch your anti-virus

A. spybot, http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ manually,be sure to get new updates.

Things to AVOID using

Stop using Internet Explorer, it is the source and cause of 90% of malware,virii,etc.

Stop using Adobe acrobat reader. MANY backdoors, also very slow and huge.

Stop using flash,where avoidable ,use flashblock

Avoid using javascript, easy ways to turn if off,listed below.

Use the "old/classic" version of yahoo mail. If you IM, use pidgin, not Yahoo messenger.
