ON VALMIKI
koojantham rama ramethi, madhuram madhuraksharam
aruhya kavitashakham, vandhe valmiki kokilam
I salute sage Valmiki - the nightingale,
who sings in sweet voice the sweet name of Rama, Rama, from the 'tree' of poetry.
valmikaer munisimhasya , kavitavana charinaha
srunvan rama kathanadham, ko na yati param gathim?
He who hears the roar - the story of Rama - of the lion - Valmiki, the sage, who roams the forest of poetry, attains the supreme state.
yah piban sathatham ,rama charithamrutha sagaram
athrupthastham munim vandhe ,prachetha sama kalmasham
I salute the sage - the pure Valmiki,
who is not satiated even after constantly drinking the nectarine story of Rama.

On Hanuman
gospadhi krutha varasim ,maski krutha rakshasam
ramayana mahamaala ,rathnam vandhe anilathmajam
I salute Hanuman who is the crest jewel of Ramayana,
who crossed the ocean as if it were the footprint of a calf, and
who treated the demons as if they were mosquitoes.
anjanaa nandhanam veeram ,janaki soka nasanam
kapithsamaksa hantaram , vandhe lanka bhayankaram
I salute Hanuman the darling of Anjana - his mother,
who put an end to the sorrow of Sita,
who killed the demon Aksha and
who was terror to the demons of Lanka.
manojavam marutha thulyavegam
jithendhriyam buddhimatham varistham
vathaathmajam vanara yootha mukhyam
sriramadhootham sirasa namami
I salute with bowed head Hanuman,
who was the messenger of Lord Rama,
who could move as fast as the mind or the wind,
who was self-controlled and was the foremost among the wise,
who was the son of the wind-God and the foremost among the vanaras.
ullanghya sindhoh salilam sa leelam
yah sokavahnim janakatmajaya
adhaya thenaiva dhadhaha lankaam
namami tham pranjaliranjaneyam
I salute Hanuman who crossed the ocean playfully,
who gathered the fire of sorrow that tormented Sita and with it burnt Lanka.
anjaneya mathipatalananam
kanchanadhri kamaniya vigraham
parijatha tharu moola vasinam
bhavayami pavamana nandanam
I contemplate Hanuman with wide forehead and golden complexion,
who dwells at the root of the celestial tree.
yathra yathra raghunatha keerthanam
thathra thathra krtham astakanjalim
bhashpavaari paripoorna lochanam
maruthim namatha rakshasanthakam
I Adore Hanuman the destroyer of the demons,
who is present with tears of devotion in his eyes
wherever the names of Lord Rama are sung.

SRI RAMA
vedhavedhye pare pumsi jhate dasarathatmaje
vedab prachethasad asith, sakshath ramayanatmanah
When the Supreme Being - the goal of the Vedas - incarnated as Rama,
the vedas became Ramayana.
sriraghavam dasarathatmajam aprameyam
sithapathim raghukulanvaya rathnadheepam
ajaanu bahum aravindha dhalayathaksham
ramam nisacaravinagakaram namami
I salute Rama the son of Dasaratha,
who is peerless, who is the husband of Sita and the light of the race of Raghu,
who has long arms and lotus eyes.
vaidhehi sahitham suradrumathale haime mahamandape
madhye pushpakamasane manimaye veerasane susthitam
agre vacayati prabhanjana suthe thattvam munibhyah param
vyakhyantham bharatadibhih parivrtam ramam bhaje syamalam
I adore Rama who is seated at the foot of the celestial tree,
on a flowery seat in a golden palace,
along with Sita and his brothers,
while his glories are sung by the sages.
