Welcome!
I am a professor in mathematics at Cambridge and a fellow at St John's.
I am interested in algebraic geometry, with a focus on logarithmic and tropical geometry, and the application of these ideas to moduli and enumerative geometry. You can get a flavour of these subjects from these articles in the Notices: I, II, and III.
My work is supported by the UKRI Frontier Guarantee of a 2023 ERC Starting Grant.
I supervise students Ajith, Emily, Sae, Siao Chi, Terry, and Zoë. Alessio, Patrick, and Veronica are postdoctoral researchers associated with my group. You can get a sense of what people work on here. We run a seminar.
I will teach IB Groups, Rings, and Modules in Lent 2025.
I coordinate the Cambridge Summer Research in Mathematics Programme. You can read about work of my former students here.
I am an editor for the Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society.

Another recent picture. In earlier work with three collaborators, I helped recover certain artefacts.
I support and believe in Federico Ardila's axioms.
