I am a lecturer in DPMMS at the University of Cambridge and a fellow at St. John's College.

Travel: Upcoming Travel & Past Adventures.

Research: My research concerns the combinatorial structures that arise in the geometry of algebraic varieties and the leveraging of these structures to study curves, moduli, and Gromov-Witten theory.

I am an organizer of the algebraic geometry seminar at Cambridge.

For PhD Students & Postdoctoral Fellows: In October 2020 I will organize an Oberwolfach seminar aimed at young researchers on the subject of logarithmic and tropical enumerative geometry. If you're interested in the subject, please apply!

Teaching: Toric Varieties (Michaelmas 2019) & Part II Algebraic Geometry (Lent 2020).

Students: You can read about the work of undergraduates who have worked with me here. I currently have one PhD student (Wanlong Zheng).

I am proud to support the music and work of Anna Magdalena Kokits. Here is one of my favourite pieces and here is another.

I support and believe in Federico Ardila's axioms:

  • Mathematical talent is distributed equally among different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries.
  • Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.
  • Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by communities to serve their needs.
  • Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
