We bought our first Berner in 1998 as a pet.
Berners are such an awesome breed and they are first and foremost family pets.
We love the Berner and wanted to do what we could to keep the breed as great as they should be. Our foundation breeding stock is from imported lines from the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. We study pedigrees, the lines of Bernese and certifications before breeding them to make sure that both parents of a litter will complement each other as much as possible.
I am a retired Family and Consumer Science teacher and my husband is a retired testing engineer for a truck suspension company.
We have two adult children who have been involved with our berners throughout their years. Quinn lives with Elliot in MT and Rhett lives with Raina and her husband, Ben in MN.
We live on a farm acreage with a fenced exercise area for the dogs as well as a large yard to be with us when we are outdoors.
We have a small kennel building with indoor and outdoor runs and are attached to the large exercise yard. The building is climate controlled with AC in the summer and heat in the winter. We also have climate controlled garage attached to our barn house where berners can interact with us in our living quarters as well. Photos of our yard and home are shown below. All puppies are born and raised in our home until they leave our property.
Our hobby breeding program is devoted to ongoing education about the breed and continually gathering information for the betterment of the breed. Our commitment is to help potential puppy owners find a breeder that they can work with throughout the life of the dog. It is as important to find a breeder who can become a friend, as it is to find the type of Bernese you are looking for. The breeder is one of your best resource and you must feel comfortable with the relationship with your breeder. You are welcome to come visit us and our Bernese anytime.
We are licensed and inspected by the American Kennel Club and the State of Iowa Department of Agriculture.
