A highlight during Katie's program was being afforded the opportunity to learn from volleyball legends, Misty May and Karch Kiraly, prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Katie started coaching volleyball in 2005 at Pomona High School before moving on to serve as the Head volleyball coach at Evergreen High School for 6 years. Coach Katie has been named the Denver Public Schools Coach of the Year in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022!
Katie has also coached club volleyball for many years. In her 14 year club coaching career, she coached nearly every age group from 12s-18s. Katie coached at Denver Volleyball club for 8 years. Denver Volleyball was a highlight for her as she was able to help bring volleyball to underrepresented communities. She also coached for 2 years at 303 Volleyball Academy as the head coach for 12s. Her love of coaching stems from the amazing experiences she's had and people she's met through playing and coaching volleyball. In coaching, Katie hopes to inspire athletes to take their love for the game to the next level.
When Katie isn't coaching she is enjoying the great state of Colorado by paddle boarding and trail running! She also loves to practice yoga. Katie loves to travel and has been to 5 continents so far. Her most meaningful trip was to Sikkim, India where she was able to teach students from Taktse International School how to play volleyball in the Himalayas.
