Volleyball Session Description
Please contact coach or ask at an open gym if you are unsure which session you should attend.
Sessions will be maxed out at 30 players per session.
Purple Session: Advanced Session. Players trying out for Varsity or JV.
All juniors and seniors need to attend this session.
We will be working on advanced systems, strategies and techniques. Players at this session should be consistent with the following skills:
Serving to zones and/ or jump serving
Serve receive passing
Defense alignment (perimeter and rotation defense) defensive technique and floor moves
Blocking footwork and proper technique
Offensive alignment (players should know positions in different rotations)
Approach for hitting
We will be working on shot selection and hitting around blocks etc.
Be able to hit from multiple positions
Know the positions (setter, outside, middle, right side, libero)
Be able to keep advanced drills going with ball control, communication and hustle.
Fast paced sessions
White Session: Players trying out for C and Freshman teams
We will be working on improving basic skills and learning advanced techniques.
No pre-requisite skills required.
We will be preparing for tryouts working on the following skills:
Serving technique and learning to serve zones
Passing technique and learning how Serve Receive passing is scored
Defensive technique and alignment on the court
Learning positions and finding strongest positions
Being able to hit from multiple positions with proper technique and footwork
We will be playing 6 v 6 and competing and learning drills that we use often at South :)
This is the current schedule for 2025 This will be our 12th year of Challenge Week!

Dates are July 28th to August 1st. Please save the dates for this awesome time preparing for our season! This is an optional yet HIGHLY encouraged week to improve and prepare for tryouts beginning 8.11.25
Details and locations are subject to change based on weather etc.
Cost for Camp: $50 cash or check to Denver South Volleyball. This covers cost of a t-shirt, prizes and other fun during the week!

Monday, July 28th
Red Rocks!!!
Where: Red Rocks Amphitheater
Morrison, Colorado
Start Time: 5:40 AM!
This event is an intense workout. Please be prepared. There are places to sit out and still be monitored by coaches.
You are responsible for your own ride to and from Red Rocks. Please carpool and coordinate with others!
Make sure you are there on time. We will take a group photo as the sun comes up! Then we will start our first Challenge!
*Please be sure to eat something for breakfast, eat before you leave your house to give yourself time to digest*
Meet: At the top near the railings. The location is on the Band App.
Use the top parking lots.
What to Bring: *Sunscreen
*Water
* Running Shoes
*An Awesome Attitude
*Snacks to enjoy after the workout
* Water! (There are bathrooms there to refill water bottles, you must have a water bottle!)
End Time: 8:00 at Red Rocks.

Wednesday, July 30th
MANITOU INCLINE
Morning Session: Manitou Incline
We have 50 spots reserved for athletes.
You must have attended and been successful at Red Rocks to come to the Incline.
Time: Arrive at the parking lot for the shuttle bus by 7:00am.

YOU must reserve your spot for the incline! We only have 50 reservations.
Make sure you are there on time.
We will likely be back by 1 or 2pm. All players will call or text when we start heading back from Manitou Springs.
Bring: *Good Running Shoes

*LOTS of Water (at least 2 water bottles)
*Snacks
*Lunch
*A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
No Afternoon session!
We are looking for help with rides to this event as well.
We have room for 5 parent volunteers. Please reach out to Coach Katie directly if you are interested in hiking with us!
Thursday, July 31st
Yoga and Volleyball
9am to 10:15am
*Please arrive at 8:50 to set up and check in*

Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.
Cost: $5 Cash
The cost is to pay for our guest Yoga instructor Lisa Theis. She is an experienced yoga teacher and an awesome person! You will love it :)

Amazing Race and Scavenger Hunt
11:30-1:30
What:
Indoor volleyball sessions in morning followed by they Scavenger Hunt and Bigger or Better competition.
Coaches will grill hamburgers and hotdogs while you complete the amazing race. We will eat and celebrate a great week!
Each team will have 2 hours to complete the scavenger hunt and earn the most points.
Where: South High School, meet on the front lawn at 11:30am to get started!
Bring: A great attitude, water, sunscreen
