DBAETS

Database Administration Event Tracking System (DBAETS) is a client-server web application developed using Oracle Application Express. Oracle Application Express is a rapid Web application development tool that allows sharing data and creating custom applications.

A database administration event refers to a unit of tasks performed or a kind of activity participated by one or more database administers in an organization relate to their job roles. Those tasks or activities include but not limited to installation and configuration of RDBMS software, patching and upgrading, backup and recovery of databases, monitoring and maintenance, capacity planning, user access control and security management, troubleshooting database issues, and performance and SQL tuning etc.

DBAETS allows DBAs to create, search and update database administration event records in a centralized place and generate customized reports about DBA activities. When creating or updating an event, DBAs are expected to provide proper summarized description of an event based on the category of the event, along with information about database name, server name, project association, impact factor, and issue resolution history etc, therefore DBAETS can help DBAs especially in a large organization with multiple DBA team members effectively track database issues and project status, as well as facilitate information and knowledge sharing among DBAs.
