Homework/Classwork (up to 100 Points)
Homework assignments will be given most nights of the week. Some of them will be collected and graded for completeness as well as accuracy.
Labs (up to 100 Points)
Labs will be conducted once a week. Labs will be due on Monday. Grades will be determined based on the collection of data, the accuracy of sample calculations, analysis of results, the neatness of the work, and the cooperation among lab partners. Any collaboration between students in different lab groups will be viewed as cheating and the students will be given a zero on the lab. Under NO circumstances will a lab be accepted more than one week after the day the lab is conducted.
Quizzes (up to 100 Points)
Quizzes will occasionally be given throughout a unit. The quizzes will usually contain one essay question to test your understanding of concepts covered in class and lab and a few math problems that will test your application of concepts. Some of these quizzes will not be announced.
Tests (up to 250 Points)
Tests will be given at the end of the unit. The test will usually contain critical thinking/essay question to test your understanding of concepts covered in the unit, multiple choice questions, and math problems that will test your application of concepts.
Marking Period Assessments (Minimum of 400 Points)
Marking period assessments will be given at the end of each marking period. These tests will be a comprehensive evaluation of your understanding of topics covered in the marking period as well as the previous marking periods. The assessments will mimic the format of the AP Chemistry test.
Notebook (0 Points)
The notebook should be contained in a large three ring and be organized. Organization is key to success and will also help when we begin reviewing for the AP test.
