50th Class Reunion

Dear Classmates,
It has been rewarding to see the large number of positive responses to our reunion plans so far. We are all looking forward to seeing and and visiting with each other again this September. If you have not sent in your response as yet, there is still time. Millie is standing by her mailbox daily waiting for your letter. Don’t let her down!
Now, while Virginia has not seen as huge of a spike in Coronavirus infections as many of our sister states, the Delta variant is reported to be on a tirade across our country. In an effort to help keep all of us safe, it seems only prudent to remind everyone of the current CDC policy: “The CDC guidelines state that fully-vaccinated individuals do not have to wear masks in most indoor settings, except on public transit, in health care facilities, and in congregate settings. Businesses retain the ability to require masks in their establishments.” The experts say that unvaccinated individuals should still wear masks indoors where physical distancing isn’t possible.

Dear Friends & Classmates,
Please join us for our 50th year class reunion during the weekend of 17/18 September 2021.
On Friday the 17th, we are planning a “get reacquainted mixer” from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Ruritan’s Log Cabin in Deep Creek. Pollard’s will be providing Hors d’oeuvres, tea & lemonade. If you want something stronger, you will have to bring it with you. You won’t want to miss this gathering as special entertainment will also be on hand.
On Saturday the 18th, we will participate in the Ruritan Clubs’ annual BeefFest. The Ruritan’s will provide the venue, food, entertainment, and drink. We will have our own tent area and take advantage of all the food, fun, and fellowship this community event provides. Be prepared to see friends from other classes as this is one of the Ruritan’s major fundraisers. Bring a chair and dress casual for this outdoor event. At BeefFest:
--- Entertainment: Soul Intent Band. One of the premier party & dance bands in Tidewater. They specialize in beach music and old school soul favorites.
--- Food & Beverage: Served 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. Texas-Style BBQ Beef, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Rolls, Iced Tea, Lemonade, Soft Drinks, Beer, and Mixed Beverages. All you can eat and all you can drink!
--- Location: Izaak Walton Park off Shipyard Road in Deep Creek.
We need your involvement in two ways to make this an enjoyable reunion. First – make sure you reserve your spot by sending a $50.00 check (made payable to DCHS Class of 1971) to Millie for each person attending. Clip the form below and mail it with your check NLT July 30, 2021. Without your involvement, your classmates will miss out on seeing you and talking about the good ole days. And second – ask all classmates that you are still in contact with if they got this information about the reunion. In 10 years, some email addresses and phone numbers may have changed.
