Speaker: Marla H. Zimmerman, MA, LCSW, LMFT is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specialized in depression and other mood disorders. She retired from the Indiana University School of Nursing where she taught Communication to nursing students and Coordinated Student Services for the PhD in Nursing Science. Her expertise in service learning allowed her students to work with over 20 community agencies in a program she developed. She has worked in the areas of education, administration, counseling, social work and community building. She is a writer and editor of the e-book, Growing Through Our Past Into the Future: Journeys of Educators on the Path to Cultural Competence. Ms. Zimmerman wrote a column for a small community newspaper (Marla’s Mailbox), for 10 years, and has published many freelance articles. She is also a national public speaker. Her topics have ranged from mental health and slice of life issues to politics, and peace.
