Pairings Process

The Daytona Traveling Golf league uses a random process to assign golfers to teams for upcoming events. We divide the golfers into A, B, C, and D quartiles based on their handicaps. We then use a random number generator to scramble the players within their handicap quartile and assign one player from each handicap quartile to a team. This random process achieves two principal objectives. It maintains a sense of integrity and fairness which allows all golfers to have an equal chance to compete for prizes over the course of a season. It provides an opportunity for all players to meet the maximum number of other league members.

From time to time, we get special requests for pairings. In the past, we have generally accommodated these requests. In order to preserve the integrity of the process, we are now instituting an interim rule regarding these special requests which is outlined below.

Special Requests

A special request for a foursome may be submitted once a month and we will make every effort to accommodate it. To be clear, this does not mean that the same foursome can be requested by a different member of the foursome every week. If two or more players are common to a first and a second special request, the second special request withing a month will be refused unless there is a good reason. Individual players are asked to limit their special requests to no more than once a month unless they are introducing a new player to the league. All requests to be paired with a new player by the sponsoring member will be accommodated where possible.
