George & Alice Tustin (prior to embarkation)
During the Summer of 1945, SSgt George Tustin sailed from Glasgow to Bombay on the West Coast of India. He passed by Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea, through the Suez Canal, Red Sea and across the Bay of Bengal. The troops were allowed to send just two letters from each port of call in transit; one letter, he sent to his eldest niece Elizabeth (Betty) Tustin. This exchange of letters between George and Betty continued while George was abroad in South East Asia.
Betty kept her letters and, at the age of 88, in January 2017, shared them with family. Her son, David scanned them and shared them with me, John (George's second son.)
This section will hold the letters and any relevant additional notes.
