Headwest Group

This group started with some profile doodles. While painting portraits over the years, I was fascinated that one small painted stroke around someone's nose or eye could completely change the personality of the subject.

I started these guys (all facing "west") as pen and ink profiles. I put pen to paper and never changed what came out. Even when I transferred the image to canvas. Their personalities unfolded as well as what they were up to.

They surprise me and make me chuckle.
