UNIVERSITY OF ARTS IN BELGRADE - FACULTY OF APPLIED ARTS
University of Arts in Belgrade is the only specialized university for arts education in the Republic of Serbia, which gathers students and educators from the country and the region of Southeastern Europe. University offers a wide specter of study programs from all arts fields, as well as the study programs aimed at professionals in the field of culture and media.
University of arts in Belgrade unites four arts faculties:
First community of these institutions was formed on 10 June 1957, when the People’s Assembly of the People’s Republic of Serbia adopted a Law on Arts academy, as the community of arts academies. Two decades later, on 21 May 1973, art academies grow into faculties of arts, and Arts academy becomes University of arts, the second independent University of Belgrade.
As the oldest and largest institution of high education in Serbia, University of arts tends to promote arts creativity and diversity as essential marks of national culture and the needs of the entire society, and to contribute to development of local community in which it is situated.
The university is open towards the society and its demands defined by specific cultural projects and actions which contribute to general process of society reforms, above all to the process of development and the promotion of arts, science and high education.
By retaining its specific nature, University of arts is decisive to integrate itself into European academic environment, and according to its potentials, in the best spirit of mutuality of the University and its comprising faculties, confirm to its status as an important international institution of high art education on the Balkans. University is a member
of international organizations:
ELIA - European League of Institutes of Arts ( since 2002);
AUF - Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie ( since 2006);
BAN - Balkan University Network;
EUA - European University Association;
Danube rector convention.
University cooperates with numerous art universities in abroad: ENSBA and ENSAD, Paris, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava; National Academy of Art, Sofia and others.
Faculty of Applied Arts educates individuals for artistic-researching work in all fields of applied arts and design, as well as for pedagogic work in secondary, superior and high educational art schools and in other educational institutions.
On the faculty experts are educated for various artistic skills and fine art disciplines being studied on ten specialized sections and in ten studios:

Applied sculpturing
Interior architecture
Applied graphics

Stage setting
Costume (Modern clothing; Scene costumes)
Textile
Ceramics
Industrial design
Conversation and restoration
(Conservation and restoration of paintings;
Conservation and restoration of sculptures;
Conversation and restoration of artworks on paper).
Founder of the Faculty is the Republic of Serbia. Faculty of Applied Arts was marked by two important jubilees in 2008 – 110 years of the education in applied arts in Serbia and 60 years of its existence.
Today the Faculty of applied arts is a complex high educational institution with ten sections, equipped with specialized workshops and studios, in which study 654 regular and 46 post graduate students.
The Faculty has 106 educators and 33 employed individuals in administrational and assisting services. Up to present, in our school 2 500 students graduated, and 235 post graduates and specialists finished their studies. The Faculty, its students and professors have received numerous recognitions and awards in the country and abroad.
In a wider sense, the significance of our Faculty is viewed trough great contribution to formation of artists and experts, important in the fields of arts, culture, education and economy in our country. The Faculty during its existence has developed significant and diverse cooperation with the leading cultural and scientific institutions in the country and abroad, and especially with economic organizations with which it realizes a part of educational programs and projects in the field of design.
