It [“the cry of the flesh”] doesn’t mean just sexual sins and stuff like that. You’d be amazed, if you really think about it, that every offense, every attitude, every justification of self, all comes from that voice of the flesh. Think about it. It comes from a mindset that reasons to make you right and something else wrong and you feel that something’s unfair or… It’s a voice, called “the way that seems right to a man.” It’s derived from the flesh and it has a tone to it like it’ll talk you into things. It’ll give you permission for stuff. It’ll reason such a long time and in such a way that all the sudden your conscience says, “Ok.” You know we talk about roots a lot in the church. Well, there are some roots that we ought to really pay some attention to. Where did that come from? Well, if you look at that root - “Well, did God really say?… If you just eat the tree you’ll be enlightened. You’ll know. You’ll be like God.” That’s the same voice of reason. And think what happened to man when he sinned. He was Spirit-driven, compelled, Spirit-led and became instantly flesh. You get it? So the whole thought of Christianity in God’s intent is to transform us and redeem us back to spirit, to be led by the Spirit, Galatians 5, what we looked at yesterday, and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.1
