Vertically Integrated Projects Program - "Blockchain, Crypto, and Web3 in Business and Finance" Spring (2025 - )

This project will serve as a platform to connect blockchain enthusiasts in Stony Brook to collaborate and innovate in the blockchain and Web3 space. The VIP Program allows students from all disciplines to take VIP Program Courses at 100+ to 600+ levels on a project-based model and unites undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members in multidisciplinary teams that work on long-term projects in research, design, innovation and entrepreneurship.
FIN 578 Behavioral and Social Finance (MBA and MSF) Fall (2024 - )
Students will learn the concepts, evidence, and applications of behavioral and social finance theories to understand and improve individual and managerial financial decision-making and the outcomes for firms and markets. The course integrates financial analysis and financial planning with Excel and coding using programs like Python.
FIN 578 Behavioral Finance (MBA and MSF) Fall (2016 - 2023)
Students will obtain a broad understanding and strong working knowledge about normal investors' wants and investors' cognitive and emotional errors, and acquire the quantitative skills to analyze problems about debt and savings, retirement planning, behavioral portfolio construction, behavioral-finance-based trading strategies.
FIN 539 Investment Analysis (MBA and MSF) Spring (2017 - present)
Students will learn the basic knowledge of the financial markets, financial instruments, and financial institutions and acquire the quantitative skills to analyze problems about the risk-return trade-off, portfolio optimization, and hedging.

SBU 102 Blockchain and Crypto in Business and Finance (Undergraduate Seminar) Spring (2025)
Students will learn the basics of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, focusing on their impact in business and finance. Topics include, for example, Blockchain fundamentals; Bitcoin as a digital monetary network; Ethereum and smart contracts; Decentralized Finance (DeFi); Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs); CBDC; Web3 and Tokenomics.
ITS 102 Your Money, Your Future (First-Year Undergraduate) Spring (2018, 2019)
Students will learn to spend wisely, and save and invest early to achieve big financial goals for their future. Topics include the understanding and management of expenses, debts, savings, and investments using various financial instruments and frontier financial technology.
FIN 580 Finance Research Practicum (MSF) Spring 2018 (Co-Instructor)
Students will work on practical research projects proposed by practitioners in financial industry and acquire valuable experience to solve real business problems in finance industry.
