My research interests are broadly in the areas of the social, structural, and environmental determinants of health. Much of my research focuses specifically on geographic differences in health and well-being, with special attention to rural people and places. My work utilizes qualitative and quantitative of both primary and secondary data. Some of the past and current research projects I have worked on include:
Social Infrastructure, Health, and Well-being
Differential Impacts of Climate Change across the Rural-Urban Continuum in the Continental U.S.
Environmental Justice in the Northeast Dayton Area: Resident Experiences within Three Superfund Site Areas (Public Report, Jan 2020)
The Community Impacts of Marcellus Shale Development in Pennsylvania
Spatial Disparities in Insurance Coverage Changes under Medicaid Expansion
My research has been picked up by MarketWatch, The New York Times, Public Radio International as well as several local media outlets.
