SHORT BIO
Daniel Da Mata is an Associate Professor at Sao Paulo School of Economics-Fundação Getulio Vargas. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge. Mr. Da Mata specializes in urban, environmental, and labor economics. He was a research economist at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) from 2004 to 2018. Mr. Da Mata held several positions at the institute, including Deputy Director of Urban and Regional Studies, Head of Urban Studies, and Head of Quantitative Research Division. His research focuses mainly on public policy evaluation and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals such as American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, The Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Urban Economics. His research has been awarded several honors, including the BMZ/GIZ Public Policy Award and the European Regional Science Association EPAINOS Award.
