2nd Annual CV Invitational

The Carmel Valley Middle School Science Olympiad Program in a partnership with Canyon Crest Academy is excited to host the 2nd Annual Carmel Valley Invitational as a Division B Tournament on Saturday, January 13, 2018. All 23 events will be contested. In addition, Wright Stuff will be held in a similar sized gymnasium to both the San Diego Regional and the SoCal state tournaments.

After an inaugural invitational was tested as a local tournament, we have worked with CCA principal Brett Killeen to enable the physical resources for a larger event this year open to all Division B Science Olympiad schools.  This enables us to host up to 45 Division B teams. The tournament is to be held at Canyon Crest Academy, 5951 Village Center Loop Rd, San Diego, CA 92130and is an excellent way to prepare your team for the upcoming regional and state tournaments this school year.

Schools may enter a team on a first come, first served basis.  Teams will only be considered officially-registered once the registration form, payment, AND insurance certificate are received (Carmel Valley MS, c/o Science Olympiad, 3800 Mykonos Lane, San Diego, CA 92130). Each team is expected to set up and run and/or provide 2 volunteers to assist in an event, including writing the event test(s), bringing all the necessary equipment and materials for the event(s), scoring the event(s), etc.

At the awards ceremony we will award medals for the top six places in each event and the top three team trophies for the overall competition.  As the host, CVMS teams will participate for individual medals but will not be eligible for team trophies. At the end of competition day, each team will receive all their students’ tests along with electronic versions of the blank tests and answer keys for all events. All schools will receive information on overall placing in the event for all their students. To offset the cost of the awards, the hospitality room for coaches and volunteers, awards venue costs, as well as the custodial costs needed for the day, the registration fee is $150 per team.

Please complete the online registration form as soon as possible and send a check for $150, per team, payable to CVMS PTSA - Science Olympiad Invitational and proof of Liability Insurance.   The registration deadline is November 17, 2017 OR as soon as we reach maximum capacity. Please note that payment and proof of Liability Insurance must be received BEFORE a team is considered officially registered.
