At our March meeting, Kristin LaFlamme, CFAG member and quilter extraordinaire, presented a retrospective of her work with commentary on her history as an artist and quilter, the influences of her work, and techniques.  She had a solo show at a gallery in Germany and she currently has pieces in an exhibit that is featured at several international sites. Kristin describes her work as moving from art quilts to conceptual art, as was illustrated by her moving apron series, which she characterizes as “Narrative Textiles. Recently accepted as an Associate Member of the McGuffy Art Center, Kristin’s work will be exhibited locally this year in the McGuffy annual group and holiday shows. She will have a solo show at McGuffy in 2014. Kristin ended with this advice: “Celebrate the fabric and what each has to say. The most important thing is the message.”
