At the Annual Dinner on 21-April-2011, the Cedar Valley Civil War Roundtable celebrated its' tenth anniversary. The Roundtable started in 2001 by 15 area residents who shared a common interest in the Civil War. More information and a slideshow from the program are under development and will be coming soon.
The Iowa Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans visited Mallory Cemetery in Louisa County near Toolesboro on September 24, 2016, to conduct a program. along with local residents, honoring Confederate soldiers buried in mass graves there. The soldiers were on their way to a POW camp in Rock Island, IL and died during the trip.
Levi Jolls (1843-1933) served in Co. C 34th Iowa Infantry of the Union Army, also known as Waterloo's Own Home Company. He is buried in Waterloo's Fairview Cemetery. A military headstone was set at his grave site in April 2015. The Cedar Valley Civil War Roundtable conducted a dedication ceremony at the grave site on October 17, 2015.
A Soldiers and Sailors Park has been created in the area between Veterans Memorial Hall and the Cedar River in Waterloo. Memorial bricks, dedicated to veterans of all wars, pave the area. The Roundtable recently sponsored five bricks for Civil War veterans who enlisted from the Cedar Valley area.
