Whittling Chip
The Whittling Chip can be earned in the Bear year of Cub Scouts. It is designed to teach boys how to use a pocket knife and to be safe and respectful of other people and property. This is part of the SHAVINGS AND CHIPS requirement for the Bear Rank Badge.Knives Are Not Toys
Close the blade with the palm of your hand.
Never use a knife on something that will dull or break it.
Be careful that you do not cut yourself or any person nearby.
Never use a knife to strip the bark from a tree .
Do not carve your initials into anything that does not belong to you.
While you are earning this award take the Pocketknife Pledge that is found in the book.
