Webelos Woods

A Webelos Scout is at the point of transition into the Boy Scout ranks. Webelos Woods, sponsored by the Order of the Arrow Nanepashemet Lodge, is designed to demonstrate and teach important basic Scouting and leadership skills. This is a great day of fun and adventure open only to 1st year Webelos boys. It takes place each Spring at Lone Tree Scout Reservation in Kingston, New Hampshire.

Webelos Woods is a weekend staffed by experienced OA lodge members who provide a supervised, exciting and vigorous program.  Learning basic knots, fire building, cooking, camping, and other Scoutly topics serves as a place to incorporate teamwork and fellowship. Hands on activities and games encourage the Webelos to put their heads together and their hands together to make light work and problem solve.

The day ends with a camp wide game such as a scavenger hunt and relay race, bringing Packs and Dens together to make use of some of their newly acquired skills. Teamwork, brotherhood, Scout spirit, and most importantly, fun make for a great start in their Boy Scout endeavors. Webelos Woods introduces the concept of the "youth led" as opposed to an "adult led" Scouting program.

Webelos Woods is more about fun than advancement. Example programs include Exploration of Wild Animals, Fire building, Gunslingin’ Safety, Extreme Inventions, Tribal Dancing, Hunting for Tracks, Games! Games! And more Games!!! To name a few.
