Whow, what a fantastic year! With COVID social distancing restrictions lifted, we could hold a 'normal' year and undertake many in-person activities once again!
So without further ado, let's get on with this end of year review!
September:
October:
Cubs learnt about all aspects of diversity within, at least, scouting and how they could welcome and accommodate those with different needs and abilities compared to others. We played some games to highlight disabilities. Photos here.
November:
Pack 333 sold just over $10,000 worth of popcorn! A record for the Pack, with just over $3000 going back into pack funds.
Food drive program kicked off. See December for more info.
December:
Our annual Scouting for Food food drive program collected a whopping 1365 lbs of goods for the Worthington Resource Pantry. Way to go Pack 333. Photos here.
We raised a ton of money for the Salvation Army during our bell ringing slot at Kroger Worthington Square.
Brrrr. Planned pack at Highbanks had to be cancelled due to inclement weather :(
January:
Activity packed pack meeting! Cubs learnt:
Basic first aid skills
Knots & Lashings
Flag color guard & flag etiquette
Bobcat basics: Cubs reviewed, and completed, the requirements for the Bobcat rank.
February:
March:
In preparation for the upcoming camp-out (and to review camping skills in general), Cub's learnt:
Campsite preparedness: Camp O-No!
Outdoor etiquette with regards to the Outdoor Code & Leave No Trace principles.
April:
May:
Pack 333 crossed over three AOL cubs into troop! One into 268, one into 332, and one girl (yey, first ever!!) into 7332. Photos here.
Pack 333 represented the Worthington community by taking part in the 2022 Memorial Day Parade. No photos :(
June:
School is out for the summer! Pretty much no real organized scouting activities from now until start of school.
Two of our leaders visited Gilwell Park in the UK; Gilwell is the spiritual home of the World Wide Scouting Movement. Photos here.
Pack 333 Leadership goes from strength to strength!
Tess completed her first year as Committee Chair: from an outsiders point of view, this can be seen as thankless invisible role, but the Pack couldn't operate without her! (nor get to read her emails!). Onwards!
David curated the role of Cubmaster to perfection once again!
Amanda did a lovely job with the Lions, completing her first year of Cub Scout Den Leadership! Yey! We see good things ahead.
Tess & Steven did a tremendous job at running both large Tiger & Wolf den! Steven also cooked up his usual feasts at all camp-outs; hungry just writing about this..
Alainna & Josh braved the challenges of a huge Bear den! They also, once again, provided the logistics for Pinewood Derby and also all of the camp-outs. They'll be very hard to replace once they move on in a couple of years.
Lisa & Martin accomplished crossing over 3 Arrow of Light Cubs!
Brent became BALOO certified!
BALOO ('Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation') is a Cub Scout leader training course required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters.
Each pack needs to have at least one, ideally two or more, BALOO trained leaders: without a BALOO trained leader, packs cannot go camping.
Note: We also convinced Brent -- asked him very nicely -- to become an official leader! He accepted with no hesitation..well, apart from the delay in replying to an email.. Welcome on-board Brent!
Martin earned his Woodbadge beads (course C4-441-21-2), and is on the training staff for the 2022 NST9-441-22-2 fall course too!
He also became a Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED instructor, giving the ability to offer courses at a discounted rate to all BSA members. (Also he runs this website, usually writing too verbosely, and has a love/hate relationship with grammar..)
Nate finessed our social presence on Facebook.
Kat kept our focus on pack finances and budgets.
Paul survived his first year as Popcorn Kernel. He did such a good job that we (unofficially) promoted to Popcorn Brigadier General! He's a keeper for sure!
Ryan & Chris made sure that the Worthington Food Pantry was supplied with food & goods as part of our annual 'Scouting For Food' program. But also Alainna, David, and Steven all got a pie in the face because of the effort :)
For those on the committee but not mentioned here: You all did a fantastic job! Scouting, especially running a Pack, is so very much a team effort.
Want to join us as a Leader? Want to be part of something wonderful & fulfilling where you can inspire and make a difference for the youth of today? Awesome, we'd love to have you! See the 'Join Us' section..
It's only an hour a week. Honest.
Great year!
Let's do it all over for school year 2022-2023!
Hope to see everyone back soon, new and old faces.
