Secondary Education Survey in Hong Kong (SESHK) is a project aims to contruct a network centric dataset for junior secondary school students in Hong Kong. It facilitates several economic research projects such as my job market paper “Additive Model with Endogenous Network”, and some works in progress such as “Type of Peers Matters: A Study of Peer Effects of Friends, Studymates and Seatmates on Academic Performance” (with ChungSang Tom Lam)
This project involved a survey on 1043 students from 5 secondary schools in Hong Kong. The survey is conducted in 2011 and is questionnaire based. Students are required to complete an approximately one hour long questionnaire. Students are form 1 to form 3 (equivalent to grade 7 to grade 9). The dataset constructed includes the following:
