Using the Bluefruit Connect App - FAQ
The CSMYC Buoy Development Team
The Bluefruit Connect App is how commands are sent to the buoys as well as creating and storing information (Buoys, Names of buoys, Names of Waypoints, etc.). This information is shared to help flatten the learning curve.
My Buoy is moving to the wrong Waypoint.
If your buoy is moving to the wrong waypoint when you have selected the correct waypoint, you haven't programmed the waypoint correctly. Repeat the "Setting and Saving a Waypoint"procedure below.
My buoys are not comming back to the Dock after sending the "Return to User"command.
If your buoys do not return to the user or are moving erratically when the command is issued, follow some of these procedures:
Check that your GPS location is turned on in the Bluefruit Connect App.
Turn off your GPS Location in the Bluefruit Connect App and turn it back on to re-set the GPS Location that is sent to the Buoys.
Re-send the "Return to User" command.
If your buoys are in a manually set location, but have a different Waypoint assigned to them, control the buoys manually to return each to the dock.
The App responds slowly (comms lag) or stopped responding.
Sometimes, the App may start behaving "strange." There are simple things to try:
You may be far away from the HUB buoy. Try to bring the HUB buoy closer, set the Spoke buoys, then send the HUB to it's position.
If your sailing area is away from where you launched the HUB, walk over to your sailing area which should be closer to the HUB and communication should get better.
If the App freezes - it stops responding - close the App and re-start which should reset the App. This does not re-set your buoys!
Try to use a device that has Bluetooth version 5.0 or better.
"I selected my buoy, but the HUB is moving. Why?"
Sometimes, after performing a command, the App will re-set to controlling the HUB buoy. Make sure your are in control of the desired buoy by reading the inforrmation lines at the top of the App window. If not, repeat the "Moving a Specific Buoy procedure" below.
