Don Bagert

Don Bagert has been teaching software engineering in higher education for over 30 years. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Tulane University, a Master of Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Don has been a Professor at several universities, including both Texas Tech University and the Rose-Hulman Institute for Technology, for which he co-created SE degree programs. He was a member of the Working Group on Software Engineering Education, where he was part of the group which in 1999 developed the Guidelines for Software Engineering Education, which was published as an SEI Technical Report and became the de facto standard for software engineering curricula for the next several years. For over five years, Don was the Managing Editor of the FASE newsletter for SE education and training. He also spent four years as an Associate Editor for Education and Training for IEEE Software. Don served 12 years on the CSEE&T Steering Committee, including five years as its Chair. In 2014, he was given the Nancy Mead Award for his contributions to software engineering education. Don is currently in his seventh year on the faculty Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, USA, teaching software engineering, senior projects, and various other computer science courses.
