Clinic/Practicum Conduct: As a reminder, practicum placements are provided for CSD 516 students to learn the various aspects and scopes of practice in speech-language pathology. Although the accrual of set hours is essential, the primary purpose of the placement is to LEARN skills in the field. All students are expected to be ON TIME and professional. Ms. Phillips Embden will be communicating closely with all externship supervisors this semester. If there is reason for a student to not attend practicum for a given day (i.e. illness), the student must complete a Request for Absence Form and submit this form to Ms. Phillips Embden for approval. Students may find this form on this website. This procedure is necessary for both offsite and onsite practici. Your offsite supervisors are aware of this process. Per your supervisor's schedule, any missed days of practicum experience are to be "made up" when possible.
Let's approach this semester with open minds, eagerness to learn, and a growth mindset. Embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and let the energy of your practicum experience fuel your professional journey.
Looking forward to a productive 2025!
