CS 116 Introduction to Computer Science I• (3)
Study of fundamental concepts of computing: how computers work, what they can do, and how they can be used effectively. Topics covered: spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentation software, multimedia/graphics software, program design and implementation, and fundamental computing theories. Three hours of lecture per week. Listed in the Texas Common Course Numbering System as COSC 1300.
CS 117 Introduction to Computer Science II• (3)
Introduction to World Wide Web applications and design, including Web scripting languages and HTML editors. Three hours of lecture per week.
Department Lab
The Computer Science Department has four (4) computer labs in the new wing of the Nabrit Science Center. The Labs are designated as room 103, room 105, room 106 and room 107.
The labs are reserved for instructional purposes. The labs are available to students when they are not used for instructional purposes by the department Professors and Instructors..
You must have a user id and password to log on to the computers. Lab room 105 is specified for computer science majors.
Student can then log-on to the server from anywhere on campus and get to their work in their network login directory. Students must set or reset their password in one of the three labs (not from other locations on campus). How to connect ...
CS 116, CS 117 and CS 216 students' user id and password will not work in lab room 105.
For the "Fall Semesters and Spring Semesters," all labs are open from:
8:00 a.m. till 9:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
On Saturdays, the labs are Closed .
For Summer I, the Labs are open from:
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
For Summer II, the Labs are open from: 8:00 a.m.till 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
If you wish to work in the labs throughout the night to complete your work, you will need to contact the department and be cleared with with the campus police.
