Beginning Band Info
Beginning Band is open to all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. No music experience required!
Step 1: Please start by submitting the "Band Sign-up" form before Band Information Night
Step 2: Attend Band Information Night on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:15pm in the Auditorium
If you cannot attend Band Information Night, please notify Mr. Bingen so that he can make sure you have all of the necessary information.
The fee to participate in band is $350 per year, payed as follows:
1st payment of $175 due during first week of band
2nd payment of $175 due during first week of January
Scholarships will be available for low-income families with a child eager for the opportunity to learn music. Please fill out the scholarship application if you are interested in being considered.
First week of Beginning Band is September 26th (please see chart below for which day your child comes).
Before the first week of band, please complete the following:
Decide which instrument your child wants to play, based on the in-class demonstrations or discussions with Mr. Bingen directly
Obtain an instrument for your child in one of the following ways:
Watch the Instructional Videos for your child's instrument with your child before the first day of band. I suggest watching each video at least 2 or 3 times to make sure no information is missed.

You will need "Tradition of Excellence: Book 1" (the red book) for your instrument. These can be purchased at the Band Information Night, or from a local music store (see Useful Links) or online through one of the links below:

You will also need the following:

• Music Stand (For use at home. Stands are provided during band.)
• Rico Reeds (Strength 2, box of 10)
• Valve Oil*
• Slide Oil*
• Bell Kit with Practice Pad (please rent from Kline Music)
• Drum Sticks*
