What Do School Counselors Do?

A School Counselor's job includes the following:

    • Counsel individuals and small groups of students to meet identified needs.

    • Deliver the guidance curriculum and assist teachers with the school's guidance curriculum.

    • Consult with parents, teachers and other staff regarding concerns about students' needs.

    • Coordinate people and resources in the schools and in the community for the benefit of students.

    • Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to serve all students.

    • Provide access and equity to all students.

    • Promote student achievement.

Call your child's school counselor to discuss any concern related to:

  • academics

  • standardized testing

  • behavior

  • attendance

  • bullying

  • referral services

Contact your child's school counselor to let them know about your student's:

  • special achievements

  • change in behavior or attitude

  • changes in family or home situation

  • special health concerns

  • peer difficulties

  • adjustment problems

Making An Appointment

*If you would like to schedule a conference, please contact your child's grade house clerk to make arrangements.

*Students can complete a Counselor Request Form (see attachment below) and turn it in to their grade house.

*Parents may call or email the counselor at any time.
