Coventry Visually Impaired and Sighted Tandem Association

Supporting Cycling and other activities for blind and visually impaired people

Welcome to Coventry VISTA

We are a friendly club and charity of about 30 people who enjoy cycling and socialising when possible.

We have an active tandem cycling programme. Rides take place mostly on weekday evenings but we organise weekend rides, which can involve us going further afield. Evening rides explore the local countryside around the Coventry and Warwickshire area. We have our own fleet of tandems so new members do not need to worry about having the right type of equipment. We also have a varied Social Programme, particularly during the winter months when the fair weather cyclists don't like going out.

The club is located in the Earlsdon district of Coventry. It was formed in September 1993 by a group of Visually Impaired people, "stokers", who ride on the rear of the tandem, and Sighted "pilots", who ride on the front. These people rode tandems in the Coventry Tandem Team Marathon, which took place in July 1993, involving riding 12 laps of Coventry's Inner Ring Road. These people enjoyed their experience so much that they decided to develop, share and continue their interest in tandem cycling
